Fire Barriers
Fire Curtains are an integral part of many buildings life safety systems. They are utilised in many, often unexpected areas, to provide fire compartmentation, a protected means of escape, demise line protection and such like.
The use of fire curtains allows an architect or fire engineer the flexibility to design and adjust buildings to suit their use safely without the restrictions of multiple compartment walls.
Protected means of escape can now be open areas until needed; compartments need not have endless rows of fire doors and walls with fire curtains only deploying when required; buildings can be protected from adjacent buildings without the requirement for solid walls or fire rated glass. Vertical penetrations such as escalator or elevator openings can be protected to prevent fire spread.
Fire curtains can be designed to encompass the small openings in compartments right through to large areas to be closed off. When coupled with obstruction sensors, multi stage drops and emergency retract buttons the systems can be relied upon to meet almost any requirement.
Where security is a requirement as well as fire, there are a large range of size and performance ratings for active fire shutters, also equipped with various control mechanisms and meeting the highest standards.
